about

Cuban vocalist Estrella Acosta went on a search in the rich and beautiful musical history of her motherland and discovered new and original music by her favorite female composers of the last 100 years.

In ‘Mujeres de Luna’, Estrella and her top latin jazz group plus an all female string quartet give their unique perspective of the work of these talented women from Cuba, including Maria Teresa Vera, Margarita Lecuona, Marta Valdés and many others.

Together, their songs form a musical travel through time, enhanced by imaginative arrangements and creative soloing.

“…it is the sheer poetry of the music and the lyricism of the renditions by Estrella Acosta that capture the imagination… a mesmeric array of beautifully crafted arrangements, and sensuousness in every lovingly caressed phrase of Mujeres de Luna. This is an album not to be missed by listeners of superbly performed music.”
